“By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”
Benjamin Franklin

When a bear wakes from hibernation, it is starving. Whether it is half-starved or near death depends upon its preparations the previous Fall.

Our soils are much like that bear; depending on what level of reserves they go into Winter makes a dramatic difference to how they “wake up” in the Spring. Organic matter levels, nutrition, cover crops, microbial biomass, and many other factors are vital to building resilience into the land that we rely upon to supply our food chain.

As the end of the season fast approaches, join Dennis and Steve as they explore ways to evaluate, plan, and implement strategies to fill our soils’ “reserve tanks” so that they start off the next season  hungry, not starving.
